Something for Everyone
A personal favorite, Cinnamon Bay Beach has nearly everything that Trunk Bay beach has to offer, without the national park entrance fee. Visitors to Cinnamon Bay enjoy ample parking, an outdoor restaurant, convenience store, bathrooms & showers, and a beachside rental shop with catamarans, windsurfers, paddle boards, and kayaks. Located off North Shore Road on St. John, about a half mile after the entrance to Trunk Bay, drive your own vehicle or grab a taxi from Cruz Bay. Taxis come and go all day from Cinnamon Bay, so catching one is a breeze. From the parking lot, the beach is approximately 150 yards away. Follow the wide path through the center of the camping ground, past the tents and cabins and the boat rental area. The waters off Cinnamon Bay are usually somewhat calm, although during north shore swells you may see hopeful local surfers bobbing about. If you’re looking for sunbathing privacy, head left (east). For more beach and breeze, head right (west). A small uninhabited island, Cinnamon Cay, sits about 100 yards off shore, to which you can swim or snorkel over white sand in clear water ranging in depth from 3 to 6 feet all the way. The best snorkeling is along the east (left) side of the cay.
